NIMONIC® alloy 263 (UNS N07263/W. Nr. 2.4650), an air melted nickel-base alloy, was developed by Rolls- Royce (1971) Ltd. to provide a sheet material which could be readily fabricated and would offer improved ductility in welded assemblies to replace NIMONIC alloy 80A.

Super alloys are also called high performance alloys. They contain a number of elements in a variety of combinations to reach the desired result. These alloys can function in environments with high temperatures and severe mechanical stress, and also in cases where high surface stability is needed. Super alloys have good creep and oxidation resistance.

Nimonic Alloy 263™ is mainly used in gas turbine hot section components.

Compared to nickel alloys, commercially pure nickel has high electrical conductivity, a high Curie temperature and good magnetostrictive properties. Nickel is used for electronic lead wires, battery components, thyratrons and sparking electrodes.
